A kitchen and dining room redesign with the perfect blend of function and style. The homeowner wanted to update the original kitchen. The contractor changed the original layout and added storage. We sprinkled just the right touch of glam. We wanted to reflect the homeowner’s style. However, we kept the true charm of the home. Our goal was to achieve functionality and style.
The Kitchen Renovations and Redesign
The corner sink with the upper corner cabinet was awkward. Also, the homeowner lost space on the right side of the kitchen due to the basement door location.
The contractor relocated the door to the basement. This gave much-needed space to the kitchen. Thus, allowing for the better kitchen layout. The contractor repositioned the sink, stove, and dishwasher.
We selected Kraftmaid Harper Maple 1/2″ overlay dove white cabinets for the kitchen and back pantry area. We chose beautiful Calcutta Gray Quartz countertops. They paired perfectly with the reflective sheen of the Versailles Arabesque Foggy Meadow glass tile. In addition, dimension diamond grout was chosen for the backsplash.
We further enhanced the kitchen with crown molding and interior window moldings. Furthermore, brushed satin nickel pulls, stainless pulldown kitchen faucet, stainless steel sink, a traditional stainless pot filler were added. New stainless steel appliances were installed.
Also included in the kitchen redesign was this back pantry area.
The contractor installed this charming Chicago Southside Brick in the wide entry to the back pantry area. Consequently increasing the functionality of this pantry area is the custom pantry cabinet and new wall cabinetry. We repeated the same Calcutta gray quartz countertop as in the kitchen. The beautiful wall paint color we selected is Sherwin Williams #6219 Rain.
The Dining Room Renovations and Redesign
The contractor removed the dining room wall to the kitchen. This allowed the rooms to flow together beautifully. The dining room has built-in cabinetry. We selected Kraftmaid Lyndale Maple full overlay shaker style dove white cabinets. The homeowner can display her treasures in the lighted upper display cabinets.
The contractor installed a custom stained butcher block counter top to mirror the dark wood windowsills original to the home. The Chicago Southside Brick is repeated on the remaining wall space around the window.
The homeowner’s original wall color of Sherwin Williams #6106 Kilim Beige remained the same. She added Silver Vintage Dupioni Silk curtain panels to adorn the front window. We selected a hand-tufted Tuleta Ivory wool rug to add warmth to the hardwood floors.
The homeowner’s custom-made table with antique finish remained unchanged. However, she gave her accompanying stained wood chairs a fresh new look. She repainted her chairs with Annie Sloan old white chalk paint. We added a custom crystal chandelier for the perfect amount of glamorous sparkle to complete the room.
Hence, the homeowner was able to keep the original charm of the home. However now she has a better kitchen layout. In addition, she has more storage due to more cabinetry. Consequently, she now has modern fixtures, new appliances and elegant touches throughout. Obviously, this is a kitchen and dining room redesign with the perfect blend of function and style! And we have another very happy homeowner!
